ontology - document on the wiki the data model terminology
Closed, MigratedEdits Locked

Description

In order to understand each other, we must define clearly what we are dealing with:

What's a(n):

  • entity
  • project
  • source
  • origin
  • etc...

And document this somewhere outside of the data model, the wiki seems like the right place for now.

there is now a page on the WG wiki to do this: https://wg.softwareheritage.org/index.php?title=Glossary

once the main wiki is open to the public, it should probably be moved there

olasd changed the visibility from "All Users" to "Public (No Login Required)".May 13 2016, 5:08 PM

We need at least a draft of the glossary in good shape before the grand opening.
Remember to do this on: https://wg.softwareheritage.org/index.php?title=Glossary

I've started expanding the glossary a bit. We certainly need to add more terms.

I've reviewed @olasd entries and completed some more.
I've also standardized how we add common information to terms, e.g. "Examples:" sections, or "Also known as:" and "Note:".

I quite like the current content of that page. We will certainly need to add more in the future, but I think this is a pretty decent status already.

@rdicosmo: do you agree? can we close this task and consider it done for the upcoming launch?
If not: what is missing that you consider blocking for the launch?

Still missing quite a few entries but the foundations are there, so Ok for
closing this.... it will grow by itself now
