Redesign landing page
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The landing page of the Software Heritage web application should be redesigned the following way:

  • add origin search box as the first element in the page
  • simplify sidebar menu (remove subsections, rename some entries)
  • remove text in top bar and move it to the landing page content

See proposed design as a reference.

In the sidebar menu I would keep the API access (unless it is accessible during the navigation - not on the landing page).
Also the access to the API on the side, is very small.

We are saying everywhere save code now and we should keep this name.

As a counter point: it is a very uncommon thing for every website that offer API access to have it that visible, it's usually in the future and/or the doc.
It's there for us simply due to historical reasons, because we have opened up the API before having web browsing. And then we have never removed it.

(less is more !)
