Description

Goals:

  • To improve the visibility of SWH on WikiData
  • adding links from WikiData to SWH

Options:

  1. SWH origin add a property as an external identifier
  2. In T1346 using archive urlas a qualifier of the repository property (not very visible)
  3. SWH archive url property

This is different from the SWHID which is used on different classes of items

Given Wikidata software properties already contains "source code repository" URLs, shouldn't we work on our side to make sure those URLs resolve to corresponding origin URLs, rather than adding yet another property (very similar to "source code repository") on their side?

This is one possibility by adding a qualifier to the source code repository (option 2).
I see that the task title might be leading.

Pointing to an archived copy of the source code repository isn't the same as the archived copy of the repository.
SWH archive url -> well formatted for acceptance

Should only be used as a qualifier where the source code repository is given.

could possibly be a candidate for a bot to take the source code repository [P1324] and use it for the SWH archive url qualifier.
