as a start, I've created a couple of quotations on https://dell.quadrem.net/

  • : with the cheapest (~1K) dell server/configuration (R430) I've found, but AFAICT compatible with the controller required for the disk array
  • : slightly more expensive (2K) server (R630)

either way, the overall price is completely dominated by the disk cost…

Also note that the prices we got last summer from Dell were slightly better then this ones, so we can probably get a small cut by asking the quotation directly to the Dell commercial (Yazid Boucif)

new quotation iteration, after discussion with olasd:

changelog of sort: basic server (R430), but with more RAM, and bumping support duration to 5 years, to match that of the current server

Status update: I've established a first contact with the Dell commercial.
To proceed, he is asking the serial number of our *current* power vault.

We don't know how to recover it remotely, so I've just asked Laurent to look it up for us.

service tag sent to the Dell commercial (thanks Laurent!)

Status update: after a couple of round of discussions with dell commercial and pre-sale engineers, they now get what we need.
We're now waiting on them to send us a proper quotation.

Just pinged the Dell commercial. I've been waiting for 1 week now for a quotation from him.

Final quotation obtained from Dell, and forwarded to Anna for placing the order.
