Initial goal was to simply drop the obsolete occurrences related tables. While at it I also took the chance to uniform comments, style, and language here and there. I'm posting this for review on all of this, but I will push separate commits when it's ready. (Hence, if you need *other* stuff that needs uniforming/improvement, please let me know in this review too.)

Goal is to remove obsolete occurrence-related tables and dependent objects (indexes, functions, storage endpoints, etc.). While at it, I'm also taking the chance of uniforming style and messages in the SQL definitions, but those changes will be committed separately.
