So turns out an automount unit was mounting back silently the mount point.
So there was a slight misunderstanding of what actually happened:

This command helped

$ systemctl list-units | grep automount
$ systemclt stop srv-softwareheritage-annex-annexroot.automount
$ systemctl daemon-reload
