- raising awareness, and fostering broad adoption of these APIs and mechanisms
** Working groups: expanding the archive (cont.)
*** Metadata and Linked Data (MELD)
In cooperation with existing initiatives
- monitor and evaluate existing and forecoming approaches to ontologies and Linked Data
- develop models and ontologies for software-related metadata (projects, developers, documentation, ...)
- establish mechanisms for harvesting existing metadata and synthesise missing metadata
- foster the emergence of a community of contributors adopting these models and mechanisms to expand Software Heritage's metadata
** Working groups: interconnecting the archive
*** Reproducibility/Replicability of Software (REOS)
In cooperation with existing initiatives (StackOverflow, reprod, etc.)
- develop metadata and ontologies to capture information relevant to replicability of software
- monitor and evaluate existing and forecoming approaches to replicability and reproducibility
- foster the emergence of a replicability software wikipedia on top of Software Heritage
** Working groups: interconnecting the archive (cont.)
*** Open Access and Data (OPAD)
In cooperation with existing initiatives in Open Access and Open Data to
- develop common standards for cross referencing artefacts
- monitor and evaluate existing and forecoming approaches to unique persistent identifiers
- raise awareness, and foster broad adoption of the Software Heritage's software identifiers
** Working groups: evolving the archive
*** Modeling and Ingesting Version control systems (MIV)
- monitor and study existing and forecoming approaches to version control
- stabilise an API for ingesting more VCS into the Software Heritage core data model
- propose evolutions to the Software Heritage core VCS model to cope with the novelties
** Working groups: evolving the archive (cont.)
*** Distribution, Replication and Query (DIREQ)
- monitor and evaluate existing and forecoming approaches to distributed resilient archival
- develop and evolve an API for the Software Heritage network of peers
- liaison with main stakeholders to raise awareness and foster adoptions of the API
** Working groups: using the archive
*** Scientific APIs (SAPI)
The goal of this workgroup is to stabilise proposals for the evolution
of the APIs offered by Software Heritage in order to satisfy the needs
of the research communities interested in using Software Heritage as a
research corpus.
** Working groups: using the archive (cont.)
*** Ethical and Legal Issues and Environment (ELIE)
This working group has the responsibility of exploring all ethical and legal
issues, and will in particular be expected to develop, with the core team,
policy documents for
- acceptable use of sensitive/personal data
see for example https://github.com/ghtorrent/ghtorrent.org/issues/32
- minimal common committments for the peers in the network
- handling take down notices
