Currently, there is no authentication system in place in Software Heritage web applications (apart an admin user to manage 'Save code now' requests).

Being able to authenticate users and setting permissions to them is a feature that would be of interest.
For instance, it could be used to lift the web API rate limiting for some users.

This task is here to track the available solutions that could be used and integrated in our Django applications.
